Board of Directors


The International Ballistics Society Board of Directors are elected by the members of the Society.  Terms are staggered such that one-third of the board is elected every 18 months.  Therefore, each board member normally serves for 4.5 years.  Board members may be re-elected.

The Officers include the President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Immediate Past President.  Except for the Past President position, officers are elected by the Board of Directors to serve terms lasting approximately 18 months.  Officers may be re-elected to the same position.

The Board of Directors are volunteers.  They do not receive payment for their services.

  Mr Clive Woodley is the President of the International Ballistics Society. He is also currently Chair of the Membership Committee and has been involved in developing our Corporate and University classes of membership. He has played an active role in setting up the on-line store.
Dr. Ian Cullis is the Immediate Past President of the International Ballistics Society. In the past he was serving as vice-chairman of the IBC when the IBS was formed.  He has worked on a number of temporary committees to help develop the constitution, set membership dues, and establish criteria for fellows. He was the chair of the Nominations Committee responsible for drafting the guidelines for general elections and supervising the Society's first election in Miami. He also administers the Neill Griffiths Award.
Mr. John (Jack) P. Riegel, III was the founding President of the Society and responsible for establishing the Constitution and Society structure.  Mr. Riegel served as the Chairman of the 12th International Symposium on Ballistics and has also served as the Chairman of the International Ballistics Committee, Chairman of the Aeroballistic Range Association, and the NDIA Ballistics Division.
  Dr. Sidney Chocron is the treasurer of the society.  He received the Chou Award in Interlaken at the 19th ISB.  He was a co-chair for the 23rd ISB in Tarragona.
  Dr. Dennis Baum is involved with several committees.  He is Chairman of the Symposium Committee and he served as a co-chair for the 16th ISB in San Francisco, California.  Dr. Baum has also served as a Chairman of the Aeroballistic Range Association.
  Prof. Bo Janzon is the immediate past chairman of the IBC.  He is currently Chairman of the Publications Committee and he served as Chairman of the 13th ISB in Stockholm, Sweden.
  Prof Zhongyuan Wang served as the Chairman of the 25th ISB and is also serving on the Student Program Committee and the Publications Committee.
Dr. David Lambert is the secretary of the Society having been elected at the 27th ISB in Freiburg.David also serves as President of the Hypervelocity Impact Society and is on the NDIA Ballistics Division, as well as, hosting the 2013 meeting of the Aeroballistics Range Association.
Prof. Klaus Thoma has been the head of Ernst-Mach-Institute (EMI) since 1996. EM is the leading German research institute in the area of
armor/antiarmor and the whole field of Ballistics and is situated in the Freiburg area at three locations.

He also serves as research adviser to the German Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Research and was elected in the National Academy of Engineering Sciences.
