Tony Russell named Communications Chairman

Tony Russell, President of BAE Systems’ Security & Survivability (S&S) business joined the International Ballistics Society (IBS) as Communications Committee Chairman.  Joining the IBS was a natural fit for Tony, having earned his Doctorate Degree, as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Aerospace Engineering. In fact, Tony’s career started in ballistics engineering. Although Tony has moved on to other roles within the company, his current business, Security & Survivability, is focused on the Science of Survivability. S&S is a leader in protection, security and survivability systems, including integrated vehicle armor systems; vehicle and aircraft survivability components and accessories; and soldier protection equipment, sold primarily to the government, OEMs and other defense contractors. Ballistics science and engineering is a core to S&S.

Tony’s responsibilities as Communications Committee Chairman will include increasing awareness for the organization, informing the technical community about upcoming events as well as contributing to the success of the society through his personal background and experience.

Jack Riegel, President of the IBS, stated that the IBS Board of Directors is pleased to have Tony join the society and serve as the Communications Committee Chairman.  “We welcome Tony’s support and believe that his leadership of the committee will help the society become more visible to the ballistics community.  We look forward to working with Tony and hope that he will take on even larger roles within the society in future years.”
